Being human is tough. At times, life can feel absolutely unbearable, and our minds trick us into thinking "unbearable" means "forever." Feeling stuck and hopeless is something I've gone through personally, but I remind clients that every moment of every day, our thoughts can change, our circumstances can change, our relationships can change — nothing stays fixed.
Prior to Aspen, I spent two decades working in just about every setting imaginable — hospitals, jails, substance abuse programs, veterans' courts, refugee resettlement. I've been in the trenches long enough to know people are more resilient than they think.
If I have a specialty, it's "messy." I have a particular soft spot for the tangled stuff — messy relationships, messy thoughts, messy coping mechanisms (aka addictions). I work with individuals, couples, and groups, across ages. Whatever brings you in, come as you are — sad, angry, imploding, or all three at once. No cleaning it up first. No judgment.
