Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy

Get to know the parts of you that carry the weight.

Most of us talk about ourselves in parts without noticing. "Part of me wants to leave, part of me is terrified to." "I don't know why I keep doing this — it's like something takes over." IFS takes that everyday language seriously. Those parts are real, they have histories, and every single one of them — even the ones causing the most trouble — is trying to protect you.

In our work together, we slow down enough to actually meet these parts. The inner critic that never lets up. The achiever who can't rest. The part that numbs out with a screen or a drink at the end of the day. Instead of trying to override them, we listen. What are they afraid would happen if they stopped? Almost always, they're guarding something younger and more tender — pain from a time when you didn't have the resources you have now.

As parts begin to trust that they don't have to work so hard, something remarkable becomes available: more calm, more clarity, more capacity to be present in your own life. IFS calls this Self-energy. You don't have to manufacture it. It's already there, underneath.

We have spent much of our careers practicing and teaching this model, and it remains the backbone of how we work. It pairs naturally with somatic approaches and is the foundation for the deeper work we do in retreats.
