Trauma Therapy in Sisters

Trauma therapy in Sisters, Oregon

Your body has been keeping the score. It can also keep the healing.

You can understand your story perfectly and still flinch at a raised voice, still brace when the phone rings, still collapse into exhaustion every Sunday night. That is not a failure of willpower or insight. It is a nervous system doing exactly what it learned to do to keep you safe. Trauma therapy at Aspen Counseling starts from that understanding.

The work combines somatic approaches, which help the body experience safety rather than just be told about it, with Internal Family Systems, which meets the protective parts that formed around old wounds. The pace is slow and titrated on purpose: we build capacity before we approach intensity, and you stay in charge throughout. The office is in Sisters, serving Central Oregon.

About Somatic Therapy at Aspen Counseling

Talk alone doesn't reach everything. Somatic therapy works with the nervous system directly — tracking sensation, breath, and impulse — so that the body's protective patterns can complete and settle. It's especially powerful for trauma, chronic anxiety, and the feeling of being stuck on high alert (or shut down entirely).

Common questions

Where do sessions take place?

Sessions are in person at 704 W Hood Ave, Suite C in Sisters, Oregon, a short walk from downtown and about a half-hour drive from Bend and Redmond.

Do I have to talk about what happened?

Not before you are ready, and sometimes not in detail at all. Much of trauma work happens through the body and through the parts of you that carry the experience, rather than by retelling it. We go at the pace your system can actually integrate.

How do I get started?

Send a message through the contact page or call the office. Every new client relationship starts with a free phone consultation with our intake coordinator, a low-pressure conversation about what's bringing you in, your insurance, and which of our therapists is the right fit.
